Ways to achieve high
Search Engines ranking

Search engine is the number one way to get traffic to web sites. The goal of every serious web owner is to achieve high search engines ranking for his site. To get there you need to understand how search engines rank web pages and how you can influence search engines to improve your web site ranking.

A search engine, in a nutshell, is a piece of software that matches certain search terms or key words with millions of web pages in its database and delivers a list of the most relevant web pages ranked in the order of relevancy. A good search engine would deliver web pages that contain information that closely matches what you are looking for. Depending on the search terms, a search engine may return a list of hundreds or thousands of web pages that it believes relevant to your search. Naturally most people will look at the top 10 to 20 ranked sites. Some might go as far as 40. However if your web site is ranked beyond the 40th position, the chance for it to be seen is greatly diminished.

Each search engine uses its proprietary software to determine the relevancy of the millions of web pages in its database to the search term. The software has a set of rules known as algorithm. Exactly how each search engine's algorithm works is a closely-kept secret. However all major search engines follow a few common rules.

One of the rule in ranking algorithm involves the location and frequency (or density) of keywords on a web page. Search engines assume that important keywords would appear near the top of a web page and would be repeated through out the page. To determine the relevancy of a web page search engines will check if the keywords appear in the first few paragraphs and how often the keywords appear in relation to other words in the web page. Those with higher frequency (or "high density") are often deemed to be more relevant than other web pages. So would you get top ranking by including nothing but the keywords, repeated a hundred times on a web page? Not really!. Such technique is called spamming and would be caught by search engines. Pages employing spamming may be banned and excluded from search engines database.

Another factor that influences search engines ranking is the number of related links a web page has. Your site will receive a boost in ranking by search engines if it has links from web pages that are related to the keywords you want to optimize your page for. It is not just the number of links that counts. Links from unrelated sites like those from link farms would not help you achieving high ranking with search engines.

Search engine companies do not like tricks employed by some web site owners to unfairly achieve high rankings. Therefore they constantly modify the algorithms to ensure that the web sites they deliver are truly relevant to what the searcher seeks. We do not believe in tricks to get high search engine ranking as they all are shortlived and the risk of being banned by search engines is just unacceptable. We can help you to improve your site's ranking with search engines whether we build the web site for you or you already have a web site.
